About the Gallery

Bryan Haynes Comes to Ste. Genevieve

Located at 73 North Main Street in the heart of historic downtown Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, our gallery brings new life to a building steeped in local history. Originally built in 1848 as a German bakery, the space has since served many purposes over the generations before being thoughtfully reimagined as a gallery devoted to regional art and culture.

Ste. Genevieve is Missouri’s oldest European settlement, known for its distinctive French Colonial architecture, vibrant arts scene, and deep cultural roots. Walking through downtown feels like stepping back in time, with cobblestone streets, preserved 18th-century buildings, and a strong sense of community heritage. The gallery honors that spirit — offering a place where art, history, and local identity come together in a meaningful way.

The space now features the work of Bryan Haynes, an acclaimed Missouri artist celebrated for his bold, lyrical style known as New Regionalism. Haynes’ paintings capture the beauty, folklore, and character of the Midwestern landscape, infusing everyday scenes and historical narratives with modern energy and reverence. His work draws from a legacy of American Regionalist artists while offering a contemporary perspective grounded in his own roots and lived experiences.

The gallery is currently open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM to 4 PM, welcoming visitors to explore the artwork, experience the building's architectural charm, and connect with the stories that define this unique part of the country. Later this year, the rear half of the building will open as French Sisters Wine Bar, creating a shared space where art and hospitality meet — just one block from the National Park Welcome Center and surrounded by downtown’s restaurants, museums, and shops.
